Learning to Hate

“The righteous hate what is false, but the wicked bring shame and disgrace.”

Proverbs 13:5

As Christians, we need to be constantly on our guard against sin in our lives. As brothers in Christ, we need to be constantly on guard and ready to intercede if necessary. But what about the rest of the world? Do we just turn a blind eye when the world heaps out its injustice? What about when that injustice invades the church?

See, the righteous hate things that are false. Whether we are talking about false teaching or just the act of lying and covering up, we should be hating the act of being false. But, we sometimes slip into the niceties of the world and let the false things slip by. Sometimes we allow false things to exist because to bring them to light may cause ourselves or others discomfort.

Well, whoever said that surgery never causes discomfort? Whoever said that discipline would not require sacrifice? False things are not of God. False teachings that deny the Bible’s truths are just as much not of God as lies and false behavior. If you are righteous, you will despise those false things. Of course, you may have a while to go.
